Update : 08 Aug 2014, 08:23 PM

In an investigation by the Chandpur Model police station a brother of a Jamaat-e-Islami leader was found to be working in the Special Security Force (SSF).

Police sources said Nur Mohammad, the SSF employee, is the younger brother of Abu Abdullah Mohammad Hasan, a local Jamaat activist in Chandpur.

A letter, requesting information about the political orientation of  Nur’s family members, was sent from the Prime Minister’s Office to  Chandpur Model police station on April 27. Police, after finishing investigation, sent a report to PMO’s on July 31.

According to the report, Abu Abdullah is a rokon (full member) of Jamaat’s district unit. He was arrested and sent to jail several times for attacking the members of police. The report also said Abu Abdullah participated in the last anti-government movement.

Mahbub Mollah, the investigating officer, told to the Dhaka Tribune that they found Nur’s brother to be an active member of Jamaat.

Abu Abdulla denied the allegation saying that he is not a rokon of Jamaat, but he supports the party strongly.

When asked, the Ameer of Jamaat’s district unit AHM Ahmad Ullah said Abu Abdullah is a member of the party’s district unit.
