Minister: Trial of Jamaat for war crimes inevitable

Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq has said Jamaat will inevitably face the trial for its alleged crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation.

He made the statement in a view exchange programme at a hotel in the capital on Thursday afternoon. "Jamaat should be tried as a party in accordance with the people's expectations," said the minister. About amendment to the tribunal laws, Anisul Huq said: "The draft of the amendment to the tribunal laws has been finalised. Soon it would be placed in the cabinet meeting." In reply to another query as to whether the International Crimes Tribunal I and II would be amalgamated, the minister said: "The number of tribunals will be increased if the number of cases rise likewise the number of tribunals will be reduced if the number of cases decline." He also said laws have been altered with the change of time.
