At least 10 Chaatra Dal activists were injured on Friday night in an attack by Chhatra League activists in the Naori village of Amishapara union under Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali.
Those who sustained bullet injuries are Iqbal, 21, Yasin, 22, Palash, 21, and Babul, 24. Babul was admitted to Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex. Some of the other injured are being treated in private clinics in Maijdee, while most of them are in treatment secretly to avoid arrest.
Locals said the injured are JCD activists who were on the run because of the cases lodged against them by the ruling party. They came to their houses ahead of Eid. On Friday night they were hanging out around 10:30pm, when a group of BCL activists led by Nazrul, Sahed, Omar and Hannan attacked them and opened fire.
Abdus Samad, officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri police station, confirmed the incident.
