The Awami League and like-minded organisations have chalked out month-long programmes to observe the month of mourning.
The Awami League Central Working Committee at a meeting on July 28 at Ganabhaban finalised the programmes.
The associate bodies will finalise programmes at a joint meeting to be held at the political office of party chief Sheikh Hasina on Saturday.
Jubo League and Swechchhasebak League lighted candles at 12:01am last night near Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi. They also placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladesh Deshoratna Parishad will organise a discussion at the National Press Club today.
A month-long blood donation programme will start on Sunday at Dhanmondi Road 32. Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the programme to be organised by Krishak League.
On August 15 in 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with most of his family members, but his two daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana luckily survived as they were abroad at that time.
