Obaidul: Padma bridge does not belong to any political party

“Padma bridge doesn’t belong to a party rather it is a national asset,” said Communication Minister Obaidul Kader at a meeting held yesterday in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur.

The minister also said: “Padma bridge is not a property of Awami League, although it will be constructed during the party’s tenure.”

Obaidul Kader went to visit the Padma Multi-purpose Bridge Rehabilitation Centre in Bakhrerkandi area under Shibchar upazila in the district around 12pm yesterday and attended a meeting organised by the local administration in association with bridge’s officials, military officials and local public representatives.

“Our economy will be stronger and that will ultimately benefit our people. The bridge is being built in public interest and the Awami League government is supervising the construction as an incumbent administration,” the minister added.

Among others, local Lawmaker BM Mojammel Haque, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Jillar Rahman, Brig General Sayeed Anwarul Islam, Shafiqul Islam, project director of Padma bridge, GSM Jafarullah, deputy commissioner of Madaripur, were present at the meeting.
