The ruling party men were involved in Kalshi incident, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has alleged.
Khaleda came up with the allegation when the deceased family members of Kalshi incident and some stranded Biharis met the former premier at her Gulshan office on Thursday.
The BNP chief demanded judicial probe to unearth the mystery of the killing in Bihari camp in Kalshi in the capital’s Mirpur.
She also demanded to arrest the real culprits of the barbaric incident.
Khaleda said: “Kalshi incident proves that there is no government in the country. Democracy is exiled today. Barbaric rule has been prevailing in the country. Repressive government has been running the country. The criminals are freed as there is no rule of law in the country.”
“It is the responsibility of the illegal government to trace the real culprits and to bring them into book, going beyond party affiliation,” she said.
The BNP chief alleged that the country’s image has tarnished before the world due to Kalshi incident.
Referring to the killing of nine people in Bihari camp, Khaleda said: “It is an old habit of the Awami League to kill people through burning. During our movement they killed people setting fire on the buses and blamed us. But Kalshi incident proved that the incidents of setting fire on buses were their activities.”
The BNP chief promised that her party will give legal aid to the victims at free of cost and will be with them in future.
The BNP chief gave Tk two lakh to Mohammad Yeasin who lost nine of his family members and Tk one lakh to wife of deceased Azad.
“In last few months, violence took place in Narayanganj, Feni, Lakshmipur, Satkhira and some other places,” she said.
“It was reported that the ruling party men were involved in the incidents and they were not caught just of their political identity. That’s why, the level of violence has been increasing day by day.”
Regarding attack on a Shibir man in Rajshahi University, Khaleda said: “In which country we are living in. How barbaric they are.”
The government has turned the country into a jail, she alleged.
“People are being deprived of justice and cases are being filed one after another against the opposition leaders and activists.”
Khaleda called upon the people from all sections of life to raise their voices to get rid of such situation.
