24 Chhatri Sangstha activists sent to jail

A Dhaka court has rejected bail and remand petitions of 24 activists of the Islami Chhatri Sangstha and have sent them to jail in a case filed under Speedy Trial Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ataul Hoque passed the order when Investigation Office Sub-Inspector Sheikh Mohammad Kamruzzaman produced them before the court with a five-day remand plea on Thursday afternoon.

The defence lawyers filed bail petitions.

The court also ordered the investigation officer to interrogate them in jail gate.

The members of the female student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested on Wednesday evening while they were holding meeting at a flat in Khilgaon area.
