Foreign Ministry asked to bring back Nur Hossain

Update : 16 Jun 2014, 10:24 PM

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said his ministry had sent a letter to the Foreign Ministry to take necessary steps to bring back Nur Hossain from Kolkata.

“We have sent the letter today to the Foreign Ministry and they will send it to the Indian authorities tomorrow,” he said.

The state minister said the Indian authorities are yet to officially inform Bangladesh about his arrest. “We are in touch with them informally.”

He added: “We have taken steps to bring him back. Now we are waiting for the official documents from India.”

Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam said the government knows nothing about the arrest of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the Narayanganj seven murder case.

“Whatever we have come to know about the arrest of Nur Hossain is by reading newspapers,” he told reporters after inaugurating a national fruit fair in the capital’s Khamarbari area yesterday morning.

Nur Hossain was arrested along with three of his accomplices at Kaliakair under Baguhati police station in India on Saturday night.

Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others were abducted on April 27 and their bodies were recovered from the Shitalakkha River on April 30.
