BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital on Wednesday morning.
He was brought from Kashimpur Jail and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital at about 8am as he was feeling severe chest pain.
Jamil Ahmed, jail super of Kashimpur Central Jail-1 told the Dhaka Tribune.
On March 16, a Dhaka court sent him to jail in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission for siphoning off money abroad.
Law enforcers had picked up Mosharraf from his Gulshan residence in the capital and handed him over to Ramna police station in connection with the case filed by ACC Director Nasim Anwar on February 6.
According to the case, Mosharraf laundered £8.04 lakh (equivalent to Tk9.53 crore) to the UK when he was the health and family welfare minister during the 2001-2006 tenure of the BNP-led government.
