A complaint has been filed against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman for "defaming" Bangabandhu claiming that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was an illegal prime minister of Bangladesh.
Kha Ma Hasan Kabir, assistant secretary of Awami League’s central sub-committee, filed the complaint with Pabna Sadar police station on Thursday afternoon.
Pabna Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Haniful Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that they have received the complaint.
“Necessary action will be taken after investigation,” said the OC.
In his complaint Kha Ma Hasan Kabir stated that Tarique Rahman’s claim that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was an illegal prime minister of Bangladesh, has defamed Bangabandhu.
Tarique Rahman at a programme in London made the claim, the video of which was floated in the internet.
The claim has been made days after a wave of discussions over BNP’s claim that Ziaur Rahman was the first president of Bangladesh.
