Update : 04 Apr 2014, 07:58 PM

Bangladesh Chhatra League gave a 24-hour ultimatum to arrest the killers of Rustom Ali, a Chhatra League leader of Rajshahi University who shot dead yesterday.

From a rally at the Shahbagh intersection in the capital, Chhatra League central President Badiuzzaman Shohag issued the ultimatum and warned that if the killers were not arrested by the dead line, the Chhatra League along with the general students would wage a non-violent movement across the country.

Rustom Ali, joint secretary of Shaheed Shuhwardy Hall unit Chhatra League of RU, was shot dead by miscreants. He was a fourth year student of Political Science Department of the university.

Shohag blamed the law enforcers’ negligence for the killing, saying: “Rustom was being threatened by RU unit Chhatra Shibir president repeatedly and Rajshahi law enforcers failed to provide security to him.”

If police took proper steps against Shibir leader Emon, he would not get killed, Shohag added.

Earlier, DU Chhatra League activists brought out the procession from the Teachers-Students Centre.

Chaired by DU unit Chhatra League President Mehedi Hasan, the rally was attended by among others central General Secretary Siddique Nazul alam and DU unit General Secretary Omar Sharif.
