BNP alleges frenzy of foul play

Update : 31 Mar 2014, 09:23 AM

BNP have alleged that the ruling party supporters are in a frenzy to grab voting centres in the fifth phase of upazila election in the country.

The party’s Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the allegation on behalf of BNP at a press conference hours after vote began on Monday.

“The frenzy to grab polling centres began from yesterday [Sunday] night,” he alleged. “Locals of those upazilas passed a frightful night due to terrorists.”

“They resumed the frenzy from the morning – snatching ballots and filling them, forcing out opposition agents and scaring off voters,” Rizvi added.

A total of 73 upazilas went in for upazila election in the fifth phase of poll on Monday morning, among the 487 upazilas in the country.

The press conference was held at Nayapaltan headquarters of the BNP.
