‘How Major Zia became president?’

Update : 28 Mar 2014, 02:31 PM

Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu has posed a question on to how Major Zia became president on Friday.

He advised BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to do democratic politics instead of making fake claims of Zia being country’s first president, reports BSS.

He made the statement while talking to the journalists at the Circuit House in Kushtia.

Criticising Khaleda for her false remark, he called upon her to shun the path of misleading people by spreading bizarre information.

He said BNP had never claimed Zia as the first President of the country during Zia's lifetime and even when Khaleda Zia was in state power for several terms.

“All of a sudden Khaleda Zia is creating confusion by spreading false information among the people at a time when tens of thousands of people from all walks of life are singing the National Anthem,” he added.

Answering to a query, the information minister said Jamaat-e-Islami is a party of war criminals and it will soon be declared as one.

He said Jamaat has no right to do politics in the country.

Inu said: “The investigation team has already submitted the inquiry report to the concerned organisation to ban Jamaat’s politics.”

Later, the minister inaugurated the newly built bhaban of Halsha College under Mirpur upazila.

District Deputy Commissioner Syed Bealal Hossain, police super Mofiz Uddin Ahmed and additional police super Sohel Reza, among others, were present on the occasion.
