BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has claimed that Ziaur Rahman was the first president of the country, on Thursday, a day after her son Tarique Rahman made a similar claim while addressing a London programme.
Meanwhile, the BNP chief also said Ziaur Rahman, former president and the founder of the BNP, was the first announcer of the independence of the country.
She made the statement while addressing a programme in the capital’s Engineers’ Institute in the afternoon.
She further said: “What the Awami League is doing now, is also crimes against humanity and the party members have to face trial one day for their offences.”
Earlier on Wednesday, BNP Senior Vice-Chairman, also the son of Khaleda Zia and late president Ziaur Rahman, while addressing a programme in London, claimed that his father was the first president of the country.
