Police have arrested two BNP leaders from Sirajganj over separate arson cases, including the much hyped train torching case at Khaleda Zia's rally in 2010.
District Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Abdul Alim, 34, was arrested from his Sirajganj Sadar residence, Sadar police Officer-in-Charge Habibul Islam said.
“He is an accused of the train arson case in the rally of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia near Bangabandhu bridge on October 11, 2010,” the OC said on Wednesday.
Belcucci municipality BNP General Secretary Helal Uddin, 40, was arrested on Tuesday night over torching a local Awami League office during a recent violence.
Belcucci police station OC Abdul Hai confirmed the arrest of Helal Uddin. Both the arrestees were sent to jail after produced at local courts.
