War criminal Sayedee’s son wins in Zianagar

Masud Bin Sayedee, son of convicted war criminal Delwar Hossain Sayedee, has won the chairman position in Zianagar upazila poll defeating his nearest Awami League candidate Abdul Khalek Gazi.

Dulal Talukdar, district returning officer, has announced the unofficial result on Sunday evening.

In the poll, Sayedee’s son has got 21,152 votes while AL-backed candidate bagged 6, 522 votes.

On the other hand, BNP-backed candidates (both male and female) won the vice-chairman positions.

The International Crimes Tribunal 1 gave death penalty to Sayedee on February 28 last year.

The Jamaat leader on March 28 lodged an appeal with the apex court seeking acquittal.

The government also registered an appeal to specify the punishment in all the six charges that were proved at the tribunal.
