Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad has said the upazila poll should be held under party line like the parliamentary election.
The JP Chairman made the statement in a press briefing held at his Banani office on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “I support Joy’s views regarding the upazila poll. The system of upazila poll should be changed and be held under party line.”
The JP Chairman said: “The system will allow a free and fair election as it is not possible to judge the candidates’ popularity with the existing system.”
He said: “We should make a fresh start and take preparation for the next poll.”
On Monday, Sajeeb Wazed Joy said local government polls should be held under the party line like the parliament elections.
