Update : 18 Mar 2014, 11:38 AM

A Rajshahi court has sent BNP Joint Secretary General Mizanur Rahman Minu to jail, rejecting his bail petition in a case filed on charges of attempting to murder the then officer-in-charge of Boalia Police Station in 2011.

Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Biswanath Mondol passed the order after the former Rajshahi city mayor appeared before it in the morning seeking bail in the case.

According to the case statement, Khan Mohammad Shahriar, the then Inspector of investigation of Boalia Model Police Station, suffered bullet wounds during a clash that left several hundred people injured in the city’s Saheb Bazar Zero Point on June 4, 2011.

Later, police filed a case against Mizanur Rahman Minu and 131 others.

On February 23, another Rajshahi court sent Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and Minu to jail in a police killing case.
