Awami League-backed candidate Hossain Ibrahim has won the chairman position in Moheshkhali upazila parishad election defeating his nearest BNP rebel candidate Habib Ullah.
Mohammad Anwarul Naser, assistant returning officer of Moheshkhali upazila poll and also UNO of the upazila, has announced the unofficial result early Sunday.
In the poll, Hossain has got 36,373 votes while Habib bagged 30,781 votes.
The upazila election for chairman position in Moheshkhali upazila, Cox’s Bazar held on Saturday.
The upazila poll in this upazila was scheduled for February 27. But, a High Court bench deferred the date because of a Hindu religious festival.
