BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the government to be respectful towards the fundamental and democratic rights of the people.
Condemning the detention of party’s two Rajshahi and Jessore unit leaders, the BNP leader made the call in a statement on Thursday.
The two BNP leaders are Chougacha upazila, Jessore unit General Secretary Yunus Ali and Charghat upazila, Rajshahi unit JaSaS President Mozaffar Hossain.
The arrest of these two leaders is not separate from the current spate of misrule of this government, Fakhrul said.
He called upon the government to refrain from filing false cases and arresting BNP leaders.
The BNP leader also demanded immediate release of the two BNP leaders.
