Obaidul: BNP had flawed politics

Update : 02 Feb 2014, 10:34 AM

BNP followed a flawed decision in boycotting the 10th general polls, communications minister and Awami League senior leader Obaidul Quader said on Sunday.

“They are participating in the upcoming upazila polls under the Election Commission they said was spineless,” he commented in a meeting in Cox’s Bazar.

“Also, they are willing to participate in those elections under a government they temselves termed illegal,” he told Awami League activists at Hilltop Circuit House.

Awami League retained power through the elections held on January 5 this year sans the participation of archrival BNP, who called all to boycott the polls.

However, now BNP has decided to participate in the upazila level polls – the subdivisional elections through 64 districts in the country.

Awami League Presidium Member Obaidul Quader pointed that the previous decision of boycotting the general elections was a flawed decision.

Among others, members of parliament Saimum Sarwar Komol, Ashek Ullah Rafiq, Hazi Mohammad Illias, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commisioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin and police Superintendent Mohammad Azad Mia were present with him.
