The platform formed by the youths demanding trial of war criminals and a ban on Jamaat-e-Islami’s politics, Ganajagaran Mancha, will celebrate its first year of opperation through a three-day countrywide programme from February 5.
Mancha Convener Imran H Sarker announced the programmes from a press conference at Shahbagh yesterday, which was later labelled as Projonmo Chattar, where some 100 youths had begun the country’s unique people’s movement on that day.
The programmes include processions, reminiscence and an essay competition.
Imran said: “We have declared the three-day programme with a view to carry forward our movement to the next generation. We have set many events for the children. They can make themselves prepare to lead the nation in future by participating in the programmes.”
As per the scheduled programmes, on February 5 the platform will show respect at the Central Shaheed Minar in the morning. At 3:30pm, activists of Ganajagaran Mancha across the country would take oath. They will then bring out a procession titled “Gajaran Jatra” at 4pm, followed by an “Open Reminisce” at 6pm. They will then engage in cultural programmes from 7-10pm.
On the second day, a cultural programme will be held in participation with famous cultural organisations between 3pm and 6pm; “Reminisce for Media Workers” at 6-8pm; and recitation of Liberation War poems at 8-10pm.
A drawing competition would be held in the morning on February 7 for children in three categories. At 3pm, a mass rally will be held at Projonmo Chattar followed by cultural programmes in the night.
The Mancha also arranged an essay completion on “Shahbagh Andolon and Bhobishyat Bangladesh” (Shahbagh movement and future Bangladesh) where everyone can submit their writings within 1,500 words. The interested people have been requested to send their writings to the Ganajagaran Mancha co-ordination cell through [email protected] and [email protected].
