Jamaat to hold ‘peaceful’ processions today

Update : 22 Jan 2014, 06:42 PM

Jamaat-e-Islami has called a countrywide “peaceful” procession for today to protest “state terrorism, killings and attacks on homes.”

Issuing a statement, the party’s Acting Secretary General Shafiqur Rahman made the announcement yesterday and also demanded a stop to the mass arrests, killings and attacks on homes.

He claimed that the joint forces had killed 26 Jamaat-Shibir activists in less than two weeks. He stressed that the government was supposed to provide security to the people but alleged that it was playing games with their lives instead.
