Update : 22 Jan 2014, 06:00 AM

Two BNP leaders were freed from Dhaka Central Jail in Kashimpur, Gazipur on Wednesday morning.

BNP Joint Secretary Khandaker Mahbub Uddin Khokan and a former lawmaker Sakhawat Hossain Bokul were freed around 11am, jail authorities said.

Kashimpur Jail Superintendent Abdur Razzak said they were freed after authorities received court paperwork. “They were greeted by family members at the gates.”

Mahbub Uddin Khokan secured six-month bail from the High Court in all the three cases – two arson cases and one for prompting Hefazat-e-Islam – on Monday.

Sakhawat Hossain Bokul was arrested in a case over vandalism and violence on December 26 last year.
