BNP has been given conditional permission to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan of the capital for Saturday afternoon, authorities said on Sunday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain confirmed the Dhaka Tribune that the permission was granted but on 12 conditions.
The conditions include prohibition from creating chaos, bar on transporting explosives, or wielding sticks and weapons at any cost, he said.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia announced for the anti-government rally in a press conference at her Gulshan office on January 15.
This will be the first of her campaign programmes throughout the country in a bid to mount public support behind the BNP-led 18-party alliance.
