The Election Commission will announce the poll schedule of Rangpur 6 by-polls on Sunday. The by-election will be held in this constituency on February 18, EC officials said.
The constituency was vacated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who chose to represent Gopalganj 3.
The commission may also appeal against the High Court stay order on holding re-elections at two polling centres of Kurigram 4 on Sunday.
If the court stays its order, the commission would hold polling at the two centres within a day or two, a senior official of the law wing of the commission told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday.
The High Court stayed the re-polling at the two centres scheduled on Thursday. The commission held re-election at 390 polling centres of seven parliamentary constituencies that day.
