The Election Commission yesterday decided to give compensation to the officials who were killed and injured during the 10th parliamentary polls.
The commission asked the returning officers, regional election officers and district election officers to send a list of the victims. The commission also sent letters to them, EC officials said.
Election Commissioner Mohammad Abu Hafiz said the commission would give compensation to those who were killed and injured during the poll.
Tk 5 lakh would be given to the families those died, Tk 2 lakh for the critically injured and Tk 1 lakh for the less severely injured.
The commission will give the compensation from its own funds. During the polls, two officials were killed and many were injured due to violence.
