One person died and three others were critically injured when pickets hurled petrol bomb on a truck in Ullapara upazila, Sirajganj on Tuesday evening.
The incident took place after announcement of an extension to the hartal called by BNP-led 18-party alliance against 10th parliamentary polls.
The truck lost control after the petrol bomb attack in Panchlia area around 8:45pm, Sirajganj police Additional Superintendent Subhash Chandra Saha said.
One person died in the incident and three others were critically injured, he said.
Southern zone highway police Additional Superintendent Enamul Haque identified the dead as Milon, 25, a vegetable trader.
Critically injured vegetable traders Samir Uddin, 42, Mofazzal Hossain, 30, and Emdadul, 40, were sent to Bogra’s Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Three others were also injured in the incident, he said. Among them, Imran, 22, was missing. The driver Safat Ali and helper Sanna attended treatments locally.
