Police-Shibir clashes injure 8 in capital

At least eight Chhatra Shibir activists were injured in separate clashes with police personnel in the capital during the second day of the non-stop countrywide blockade on Thursday.

Police also detained five people from the spots during the clashes.

Witnesses said police detained three Shibir activists when they locked in a clash with the law enforcers during a procession in the Bhatara area around 8:30am.

Later, police fired tear shells and rubber bullets, leaving five people injured.

Meanwhile, several crude bombs were exploded during the clash.

Three people were injured in an earlier clash with police men in the Jurain area around 7am. Police detained two people from the spot.

Shibir activists also brought out brisk processions and exploded crude bombs in the Khilgaon, Moghbazar and Shyampur areas.
