AL on the streets with sticks

Update : 29 Dec 2013, 07:01 PM

Leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies yesterday paraded the Dhaka’s streets with “sticks” to resist the opposition alliance’s March for Democracy programme and also conducted stop and search on the pedestrians.

They took position at the city’s entry points and other places including the party headquarters Bangabandhu Avenue to prevent the opposition marchers from entering the city and hold a prescheduled rally at Nayapaltan.

A vast gathering was seen on Bangabandhu Avenue where the party’s leaders of the central and city units were present. Brandishing bamboo sticks, cricket stumps and hockey sticks, they brought out processions in Gulistan. Some of them also had national flags in their hands.  They paraded through the GPO, Golap Shah Mazar, Muktangan, Press Club and High Court.

Under the leadership of party’s Presidium member and Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, a team monitored the situation of the capital. They instructed the leaders and activists to take position at the several points of capital to resist the opposition.
