Little known and first-time MP Zahid Maleque has gained huge wealth in the last five years, says his latest affidavit in which he declares that the value of his movable property jumps from over Tk7 crore and 21 lakh to Tk37 crore and 49 lakh.
Of the total value Zahid did not mention the source of his movable property worth Tk17 crore and 69 lakh. He just said he got it from “others” sources.
He has now Tk30 crore more than that of the previous election time.
Zahid Maleque was re-elected MP from the same Manikganj-3 constituency unopposed in the 10th parliamentary polls.
In the affidavit he submitted to the election commission in 2008 he said the value of the movable property of his and his dependents was over Tk7 crore 21 lakh including shares of companies worth over Tk6 crore and 45 lakh.
According to the latest affidavit, Zahid mentions that the value of the movable property of his and his dependents rose to over Tk37 crore and 49 lakh. Value of the “others” movable property is over Tk17 crore and 69 lakh and shares of the listed or unlisted companies is now worth over Tk13 crore and 58 lakh.
The 2008 affidavit mentions the value of the companies’ shares as over Tk7 crore 40 lakh. He has over Tk3 crore and 48 lakh in cash and an investment in the postal savings of over Tk 1crore and 12 lakh.
