Security tightened at Pakistan Embassy

The Chancery unit of police in cooperation with the crime division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) beefed up the security in and around the Pakistan Embassy.

Additional forces were deployed to ward off any untoward incidents at the Pakistan Embassy along with patrol by crime busting force Rapid Action Battalion members, said officials of the Chancery unit and Rab.

Kamal Hossain, senior assistant commissioner of the Chancery unit, said: “Security measures in the

entire Diplomatic Zone had been intensified over the last few

months. But it was further tightened after the resolution adopted by Pakistan National Assembly over the execution of war criminal Abdur Quader Molla and subsequent protest by Bangladesh.”

The Chancery police official said as part of the beefed up measures deployment of forces including plain-clothes policemen have been increased alongside the vigilance and patrol around the Pakistan Embassy.

“The measures have been taken to avert any kind of untoward incident in Pakistan Embassy and other embassies in the diplomatic zone,” he said.

Wing Commander ATM Habibur Rahman, Director of Legal and Media Wing of Rapid Action Battalion, said they keep their forces on high alert to ensure security to the Pakistan Embassy and its officials as well as to other embassies and diplomats.

Witnesses said a large number of additional forces from police and Rab were seen deployed in and around the Pakistan Embassy and residence of its ambassador.
