Expelled Jatiya Party presidium member Kazi Zafar Ahmed termed the events surrounding the upcoming general elections as a “joke”.
The JP leader urged the government to revoke the schedule of the 10th parliamentary elections.
“It will be a mad administration of the government of Sheikh Hasina,” he told a press conference on Sunday afternoon at his Gulshan residence.
The election commission is not even worthy of criticism, he went on to say: “There is no way out of this crisis without holding dialogue.”
Warning a note of caution to the politicians, he called upon them to stop making a joke out of politics saying that the situation might go beyond the grip of the politicians.
“The capital has already been disconnected with the other parts of the country.”
Asked about the possibility of re-joining the Jatiya Party he said he was not sure of that as the stance of Ershad is not yet clear to him.
Ershad said he was detained but he is issuing press release regularly.
Earlier in the morning the lawyer of Ershad in another press briefing warned of blockade and legal consequences if Ershad was not released immediately.
