The Hefazat-e-Islami has called off the hartal programme it had previously announced for Sunday in the district of Chittagong.
Monir Ahmed, press secretary to Hefazat-e-Islami’s Ameer Allama Shafi, told the Dhaka Tribune on Friday.
“The decision comes as Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a nationwide hartal for the same day,” said Monir adding, “The country’s ongoing unrest was also considered in calling off the hartal.”
Earlier, the Islami platform enforced the hartal for Sunday as they were not allowed to hold the convention on December 12 and 13 on the premises of the Jamiatul Falah Masjid in the port city.
