The nomination paper withdrawal of Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad faces difficulties as the Dhaka district returning officer did not receive his application due to an error in the letter’s submission date.
delegation of Jatiya Party went to the district returning officer’s office to submit the withdrawal application in Dhaka-17 constituency.
But the returning officer did not receive the application because of the erroneous submission date on the letter, Election Commission office sources said.
Meanwhile, JP’s presidium member Mashiur Rahman Ranga placed the two applications withdrawing HM Ershad and GM Quader’s nominations in Lalmonirhat-1 and Lalmonirhat-3 constituencies.
But the returning officer didn’t deliver any received copies regarding the withdrawal, our correspondent reports.
“The returning officer didn’t deliver any received copies to me because of unknown reasons,” Ranga said.
He added: “It was informed to Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman over mobile phone.”
Lalmonirhat District Returning Officer Fazlul Karim said: “Two applications of JP Chairman HM Ershad and Commerce Minister GM Quader were received from JP leader Mashiur Rahman Ranga.”
