Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not accept the resignation letters of Jatiya Party polls-time cabinet ministers, what the party’s Chairman HM Ershad said.
“The resignation letters were finally sent by courier, but the prime minister did not accept those,” he told reporters at his Baridhara residence on Monday.
“Earlier, we tried to reach the prime minister thrice, but every time we were rejected,” he said.
“Now my secretary general is going to hand over the resignations to the prime minister in person,” he said. “But we know, she will not accept it.”
“Whatever, we are no more in the government, and our ministers are not going to take part in any meeting of the cabinet,” he said.
He reiterated that he will not take part in an election under this government. “My party members have been ordered to withdraw their nominations by December 13.”
However, he said that for the sake of fair polls, he might even take part in an elections under a caretaker government, which is basically the statement of BNP.
Replying to quries of journalists, JP Secretary General Ruhul Amin Howlader said: " Our resignation letters have been reached at the office of prime minister. But, we do not know whether those were received."
