Main opposition BNP has declined to disclose the issues discussed between party chief Khaleda Zia and visiting UN envoy Oscar Fernandez-Taranco.
Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, vice-president of the BNP, told reporters that he could not also disclose the minutes of the other meeting Taranco had with senior BNP leaders.
The UN assistant secretary-general and Khaleda had a one-to-one meeting, he said.
“All the issues have been discussed in the meetings,” the BNP leader added.
Earlier, Taranco held meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban and top Awami League leaders at Sonargaon Hotel.
Taranco's visit has inspired hope amongst the people that the political crisis may be resolved. His visit is aimed at encouraging ‘dialogue and conditions’ conducive to parliamentary elections scheduled for January 5.
