Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad has strongly said he will be the chief of his party until death.
The comment came shortly after expelled Kazi Zafar Ahmed said he had news from reliable sources that Rowshan Ershad will take over HM Ershad’s position as party chief.
“The chairman of Jatiya Party is still alive. I am the chairman until death. I do not give power to anyone else,” Ershad said at his Baridhara residence on Saturday.
The former military ruler said, “It does not matter at all whether the ministers retain or leave, resign or not.”
“I am all-in-all in the party,” he said.
“Those who are spreading such rumours are intending to confuse the people,” he said.
He added that there is no chance for anyone else to take up the post of an acting chairman of the party.
