The recently expelled Jatiya Party leader Kazi Zafar Ahmed has said he has information that Rowshan Ershad will replace HM Ershad as the chief of Jatiya Party.
“I have news from reliable sources that Rowshan Ershad has replaced Hussein Muhammad Ershad as Jatiya Party chairman,” he told reporters at a press briefing Saturday.
“I have also heard that Ershad might travel abroad citing health reasons,” he said.
The expelled leader added that several Jatiya Party ministers, including the party's Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howladar, was not willing to give up their posts in the polls-time cabinet.
The press briefing was held at the Gulshan residence of Kazi Zafar. Among others present in the briefing was BNP chairperson's advisor Showkot Mahmud.
Kazi Zafar echoes BNP
Recently expelled Jatiya Party Kazi Zafar Ahmed was moving in the line of BNP, from what was seen in the five-point demand placed on Saturday.
The demands, including immediate resignation of Sheikh Hasina from her position of prime minister, were placed in a press briefing in Kazi Zafar's Gulshan residence.
Zafar demanded elections under a non-partisan caretaker government and release of detained BNP leaders and withdrawal of cases against them to create a dialogue-atmosphere.
He also sought efforts from President Abdul Hamid for talks between Awami League and BNP.
Demand was also placed to withdraw law enforcers from all party offices “to establish the constitutional and democratic right of the people for the interest of the public.”
He also demanded release of daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman, withdraw ban on Islamic TV and Diganta Television, and Information Technology Act, 2013.
The demand follows two meetings with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia last week.
