A delegation of Commonwealth urged ruling Awami League to take initiativeS for resolving the ongoing political crisis while the Election Commissioner requested the organisation to send observes during the 10th parliamentary elections.
The three-member delegation, led by Martin Kasirye, adviser of politics and democracy of Commonwealth, made the request during a call on with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the party’s Dhanmondi office.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Martin Kastri expressed hopes that effective measures would be taken for solving the political crisis.
“The ruling party words them to solve the situation,” Kastro said.
AL Joint Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif told reporters that the Commonwealth assured about sending observes to the elections.
