Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad has ordered all his concerned party subordinates to withdraw their nomination for the January 5 elections.
The order was issued in a press release, signed by acting office secretary and Presidium Member Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Wednesday morning.
The statement comes a day after HM Ershad announced his withdrawal from the 10th general elections to be held in January.
However, an incumbent minister from this party, Anisul Islam Mahmud, said the decision was of Ershad alone and not the party's.
“We have told the prime minister that we will try to convince HM Ershad to participate in the polls,” he had told Dhaka Tribune late Tuesday night.
However it seems the former military ruler is “adamant” on his current decision.
