European Union High Commissioner William Hanna said the decision on sending observers to Bangladesh to watch the next general election was not taken yet.
He made the statement after a meeting with the Election Commission Sunday morning.
“The European Union will take decision on sending observers considering the current political situation,” Hanna said.
He said EU would provide all kinds of assistance for holding a free and fair election in Bangladesh.
According to the schedule, the tenth parliamentary elections will be held on January 5, 2014.
BNP, the main opposition party, has been demanding to hold the national election under a non-party caretaker government. The party also demanded rescheduling the polls.
The country had hit a political deadlock on how the next elections will be held.
