Kazi Zafar expels Ershad for prestige issues

Update : 28 Nov 2013, 02:30 PM

“Former Jatiya Party Presidium Member” Kazi Zafar Ahmed “expelled” his party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad for “prestige” issues.

Kazi Zafar Ahmed himself confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune he wrote a letter to HM Ershad to this regard.

This Dhaka Tribune correspondent saw the letter hours after HM Ershad expelled Kazi Zafar for making comments against Jatiya Party for joining the polls-time cabinet.

The letter said Ershad cannot take part in any of the party programmes or events. It added therein, that a new chairman of the party will be elected in the next council.

The reasons cited for Ershad’s expulsion were stated as "damage to unity, organisation and prestige.”

The drama of “who expelled who” began when Kazi Zafar said Ershad betrayed the nation by joining the polls-time cabinet.

Ershad had said he had full confidence in Kazi Zafar and that the senior leader “could not have done this.”

However, days after the drama within Jatiya Party, HM Ershad “expelled” Kazi Zafar Ahmed Thursday morning.
