Fakhrul sends slip to Ashraf

Update : 26 Nov 2013, 10:59 PM

Main opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir last evening sent a slip to Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, asking him to initiatives for holding a formal dialogue over polls-time government.

An unconfirmed source told the Dhaka Tribune that Fakhrul sent the slip through one of his close aides. The source also said Ashraf had talked about the slip with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The content of the slip could not be known in detail immediately.

However, BNP Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told the Dhaka Tribune: “It is false and baseless. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir did not send any letter to Syed Ashraful Islam.”

On the other hand, an Awami League leader said when Ashraf talked with Hasina about the letter, she had told Ashraf that elections would be held in due time.

On October 23, Fakhrul and Ashraf reportedly held a secret meeting where Fakhrul handed over a letter to Ashraf mentioning their demands.
