Posters humiliating Ershad removed by JP activists

Update : 22 Nov 2013, 08:08 PM

A number of banners and posters defaming Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad appeared  at different points in Barisal city on Friday.

Manipulated images of Ershad showed him being slapped by an individual using brooms, shoes, or sandals, and were apparently created by Sachetan Nagorik (conscious citizens) protesting the JP leader’s involvement in the all-party polls-time government.

JP activists led by Bashir Ahmed Jhunu, district JP joint secretary and Sadar upazila convener, swiftly removed the posters and banners.

Jhunu blamed JP’s political rivals, saying: “Some narrow-minded people did this, against free, fair political trends and democratic norms.”

He said the party chairman had done what was necessary as the nation wants to see an election.

“Party leaders acted according to their agendas. Ershad is playing a political role in favour of the country and will play an important role in bringing back peace in the nation through a free and fair parliamentary election,” hoped Mohsin Ul Islam Habul, district JP President.

One member of the public who saw a poster in the city, alleged that HM Ershad was a liar and would go down in history as a liar.

Others claimed Ershad had always deceived the nation with his false terms and Bangladeshi people would never trust him.
