A five-member delegation of the Election Commission led by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad is holding a meeting the President, Abdul Hamid, at Bangabhaban.
Other members of the team are Election Commissioners Mohammad Abu Hafiz, Abdul Mobarak and Md Shah Nawaz and EC Secretary Mohammad Sadiq.
Our Correspondent says the EC delegation led by the CEC arrived at the Bangabhaban around 3:30pm.
According to EC sources, the commission has decided to propose three possible dates to President Abdul Hamid for holding the next parliamentary polls and seek his advice on announcing the polls schedule.
The commission will also request the president to deploy armed forces to maintain law and order.
