Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad on Saturday said he was effictively not a member of the Awami League-led Grand Alliance anymore.
While speaking at a programme in the capital, the former military ruler said he will declare a new alliance soon.
The move to end ties with Awami League alliance comes months ahead of the national elections and amidst concerns over whether main opposition BNP will participate in it.
Ershad was speaking as the chief guest in the 2013 central council of the Jatiya Juba Sanghati.
