A special team of Rab and police, in a joint drive, picked up 10 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir from Sitakundo upazila’s Moddhom Mahadevpur area early Friday.
The identities of the arrestees are yet to be disclosed.
Rab 7 Assistant Director ASP Aminul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Rab and police conducted a drive and held the Jamaat-Shibir activists at an abandoned house around 4:10am.
The law enforcers also recovered one pistol, three crude bombs, two kilograms of gun powder, three liters of petrol, three choppers, two knives and one motorbike from their possession, said police.
Rab 7 sources said police was trying to arrest the Jamaat-Shibir members since February 28.
The arrestees have conducted a number of subversive activates during recent hartals and demonstrations enforced by BNP-led 18-party alliance, claimed Rab officials.
