A Dhaka court on Friday placed two BNP leaders on a five-day remand in a case filed for obstructed the law enforcers performing duties and conducting violence.
The leaders are Sarafatl Ali Sofu, general secretary of Swechchhasebak Dal and former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Shafiul Bari Babu, also an organising secretary of Swechchhasebok Dal.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin passed the order after the investigation officer of the case produced the opposition party leaders before it with a 10-day remand plea.
Earlier on Thursday, a team of DB police arrested them from city’s bangla Motor area around 7:00pm.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner at Media Centre of the DMP, said: “Both the leaders were arrested. Police found their involvement with arson and bomb attacks and attacks on police during recent hartals.”
Meanwhile, DB and police of the Dhaka Metropolitan police raided residences of different leaders of BNP, Swechchhasebak Dal, Jubo Dal, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and other front organizations of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islam, said sources in DB and DMP.
