Main opposition BNP has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal for Sunday in the city protesting the detention of Abul Hashem Bakkar, central vice president and ex-president of the city's corresponding unit of Jubo Dal from Enayetbazar at around 9:15am.
The party is set to stage a protest rally and bring out a procession on Thursday as part of its agitation programmes.
President of BNP's Chittagong City Unit Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has confirmed the news to the Dhaka Tribune.
The detention was made in Chittagong during the nationwide 84-hour hartal of the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance.
